Buying GyG requires £320,000 to be raised – plus all the legal fees and other associated costs. By any standard this is no mean feat and will require careful thought, prayer and planning. As we have approached this, God led us to the miraculous story of the feeding of the 5000 in John 6. As we studied God’s Word we clearly saw a number of things. Firstly, God asked both Peter and Philip for their opinions about the seemingly overwhelming task of how to feed the throng. Both admitted that they didn’t know what to do, but Peter mentioned the little boy with the loaves and fishes. This struck us deeply. We had seen a small amount come in over the years towards a property - could this be our loaves and fishes? Secondly, the story goes on to show Jesus thanking his Father, speaking out publicly and then breaking the small lunch into a mighty feast. As we prayed, God confirmed this would be our story too! We were to continually offer our loaf or fish – and God would multiply it! So, we launch our official fund raising programme in March 2010. We will not sit idle, but will be searching keenly for that elusive loaf or fish, seeking out possibilities that the Lord can develop.
