There are whole books written
on this subject - far more than we could include
here! If you haven't done a YWAM DTS yet, then this
is one of the subjects that we will cover - :)
That being said, check out
these verses for some help in understanding this key
part of a believer's walk.
1Jo 3:21-22 NRSV Beloved, if
our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness
before God; (22) and we receive from him whatever we
ask, because we obey his commandments and do what
pleases him.
1Jo 5:14-15 NRSV And this is
the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything
according to his will, he hears us. (15) And if we
know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know
that we have obtained the requests made of him.
So, put very simply, if you are
sensing that some leading in your heart could be
from God, then check it against the above verses. If
your 'heart condemns you', that is if you get that
little prickle from your conscience or your heart is
not at peace whenever you pray or think about it -
chances are you are not hearing God's voice.
Moreover, if you are walking
within God's commandments, then when you present
whatever it is you are sensing to God, you can do so
with great boldness, knowing that He hears you - and
will grant what you ask because it is within His
will.
